At Collect Service Go, we wanted to know which of the UK’s drives are the most beautiful according to social media. To find this out, we analysed Instagram hashtags to find which scenic routes are the most shared on the social media platform.

The Top 5 Most Instagrammed Driving Routes in the UK

1. North Coast 500 (NC500) in Scotland – #northcoast500 (113,747 posts)

 

 

The North Coast 500 is a circular, 516-mile scenic drive around the north coast of Scotland. It is a stunning drive where you will be treated to incredible views of the Highland wilderness year-round. On the drive, you will pass beautiful beaches, gorgeous mountainous regions, castle ruins, and quaint towns. Starting and ending at Inverness Castle, you can travel the route clockwise or anti-clockwise. The North Coast 500 is not a route to be taken quickly, however! It’s advised that you take between 5 and 7 days to drive the full route, which should give you enough time to take in the beautiful scenery and make some necessary stops for taking photos!

This winding road is 14 miles long and includes 22 bends, with magnificent limestone cliff faces rising either side of the road. These limestone cliffs are England’s deepest natural canyon and rise to 138m above the road. The landscape was carved out during the Ice Age by glacial melt-water and attracts many visitors every year.

To find which driving routes in the UK are the most shared on Instagram we collated a list of the 50 most popular driving routes and scraped Instagram for the number of images that have been posted on the app alongside the hashtags most closely associated with each drive. We used this number to rank each of the drives from most to least Instagrammed.
